What I do differently.

Zero attack surface

Your website is delivered finished, not assembled from a database on every request. There is no plugin system shipping new holes, and no maintenance duty for you to keep an eye on. Security here comes from leaving things out, not from bolting things on.

No vendor lock-in

Your website works independently — no plugin dependencies, no mandatory updates. You can take the finished site with you at any time. You decide what to invest beyond that.

If I misjudge the effort, that is my problem, not yours.

The price is set before I start: a fixed price for the agreed scope, before the project begins. If the scope changes later, we discuss that separately. Hosting included, no mandatory recurring fees. Most projects land between €3,900 and €8,000.

Europe. Period.

Hosting and processing stay in the EU. No US services, no third-party fonts, no embedded scripts — so nothing that would require you to collect consent. Whether your site gets by without a cookie banner entirely depends on what you want to embed. In most cases it does.

Legally sound is a commitment, not an adjective.

Every provider writes „GDPR-compliant" on their website. The only proof is paperwork: a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR and a works contract, drawn up and ready — not a statement of intent. I build forms that work without collecting consent — you can verify that on this very page. Accessibility to WCAG 2.1 AA is standard, and whether your site additionally falls under the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) is settled before the contract, not after it.

Why this is so fast

Your site sits ready on the server, geographically close to your visitors. No server has to compute on request, no database has to answer first. Google rewards that, and people who do not have to wait bounce less often.

I built my first websites as a teenager. Today I look after Linux servers and a WordPress intranet that is still running.

Automatic plugin updates are switched off there. Not out of negligence, but because every so often one of them takes the entire site down. Instead they run on a schedule, in a maintenance window, and I snapshot the machine beforehand. If an update shifts the layout anyway, that means rework on top. And the plugins you have committed to charge licence fees year after year.

That is proper maintenance work, and I am happy to do it. I simply know what it costs — and that most websites are better off without any of it. If you specifically want WordPress, you will get it, with a maintenance plan and everything that comes with it. I would rather build you something that barely occupies you after launch — and if something does come up, you reach me directly, not a hotline.

  1. First call and offer

    A conversation in which I mostly listen and ask questions. After that you have everything in writing: the offer, the contract, and the data processing agreement – before the first line is written.

  2. Briefing and kickoff

    Instead of email ping-pong you get two structured questionnaires: a short one for the offer, a detailed one for the build. You fill them in whenever it suits you – your progress is saved as you go.

  3. Launch and handover

    I put it live, check it on every device, and take the time to walk you through it. Whether you maintain the content yourself is your call – I only build in a content system if you want one.

What happens if we stop working together?
A fair question that I'm happy to answer openly:
  • Your website runs independently. The visible content works on any modern hosting. Dynamic features like contact forms are optimized for the chosen platform and can be migrated with manageable effort.
  • Bring in another provider? Anytime. A provider of your choice can keep the website running with the delivered files and handle hosting. If a CMS is set up, content can also be managed without the source code.
  • Peace of mind for worst-case scenarios: On request, I deposit the source code with a neutral third party (escrow). If something happens to me, you automatically gain access.
  • Want to own the code outright? That's possible too, for a one-time fee. Whether you actually need it is something we'll discuss openly — in most cases, it's not necessary.
Can I edit content myself?
Yes — and you decide how deep you want to go:
  • Don't want to worry about it? I handle small changes (text, images, new opening hours) quickly and easily — either per request or as part of a small support package.
  • Want to do it yourself? I can set up a simple content management system where you edit text, images, and pages in your browser — no HTML, no technical skills needed.
  • Have a marketing team? There are solutions for that too, which we'll work out together in our first conversation.
The bottom line: you're never forced to call me for every little thing.

Said plainly: a CMS brings a login and a piece of software that wants keeping up to date — exactly what a site without one does not have. I am happy to set it up and keep it in order. But it is a decision with consequences, not a free extra. Whether you actually need one, we work out beforehand.
What do I get at the end?
A finished website, ready to go — optimized for privacy-friendly EU hosting. The pre-rendered content also works on most other modern hosts if you ever want to switch. You'll receive all media, content, credentials, and a handover document.

The developer source code (repository, build setup) stays with me — similar to website builders. If you ever do need it, that is possible too — for a one-off surcharge.
What does a website cost?
Most projects land between €3,900 and €8,000 — depending on the number of pages and features. Smaller is possible too: a single-page site starts at €1,900. You get a fixed price for the agreed scope, not hourly billing. No hidden costs, no mandatory monthly fees — hosting is included. In a short conversation, we'll figure out what you need — free and no-obligation.
Does my data really stay in the EU?
Yes, and I name the providers: hosting is with bunny.net (BunnyWay d.o.o., Slovenia), under a data processing agreement per Art. 28 GDPR; for your site the delivery network is restricted to locations inside the EU. Email runs through Brevo (France). No US services, no Google Fonts, no third-party scripts.

What this does not mean: that you are guaranteed to get by without a cookie banner. The moment you want to embed a Google map, a YouTube video or a third-party booking tool, you need consent — my hosting does not change that. I tell you up front what each embed costs you, and I build it anyway if you need it.
How long does a website project take?
Typically 4–6 weeks, more for larger projects — depending on how quickly we can move through feedback rounds together.
